Job Description

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Component for Aquaculture, the Aquaculture County facilitators will support the implementation of project activities at field level. The Facilitator will contribute to the delivery of aquaculture interventions, working closely with local farmers, stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure effective and timely implementation. The Facilitator will assist in strengthening market competitiveness through capacity-building activities, support to matching grant monitoring, and facilitation of linkages among institutions, business actors, and community stakeholders, in line with project objectives.

Responsibilities

• Awareness raising and Identification of MSME’s
• Support the development of sensitisation campaigns building business mindset.
• Lead due diligence processes prior to the selection of MSMEs.
• Conduct regular follow-ups and provide coaching to MSMEs to support their growth and performance.

• Technical and Programme Implementation
• Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of aquaculture activities at county and community levels.
• Organizing and delivering training sessions for fish farmers, cooperatives, and local stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and adaptation of training materials on production, business skills, and cross-cutting themes.
• Provide day-to-day follow-up and basic technical support to beneficiaries and field-based aquaculture activities.
• Assist in promoting improved and sustainable aquaculture practices among target groups.

• Policy advice and stakeholder coordination
• Support coordination with local government authorities, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders at county level.
• Assist in organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and multi-stakeholder platforms related to aquaculture value chains.
• Contribute to building and maintaining partnerships with local institutions, private sector actors, and community-based organizations.

• Monitoring, Quality Assurance, and Learning
• Report the regular field activities, and ensure compliance with project plans and technical standards.
• Assist in data collection, entry, and reporting for project monitoring and evaluation purposes.
• Contribute to tracking progress indicators and documenting field results.
• Support the integration of cross-cutting issues such as gender, youth inclusion, environmental sustainability, and climate resilience in field activities.
• Document lessons learned, success stories, and good practices from field implementation.

• Business Development, Market Systems, and Partnerships
• Facilitate linkages between producers, input suppliers, buyers, and other key market actors.
• Support the implementation of grant-related activities, including follow-up with beneficiaries and basic compliance monitoring.
• Assist farmers with all grant preparatory processes and lead background checks to verify eligibility.
• Conduct regular monitoring of grant-related activities and provide guidance in line with project goals and objectives.

• Strategic Alignment of the project
• Ensure alignment between field-level activities and overall project strategies.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of national strategies and how project interventions contribute to broader national development goals.
