Our Client is looking for a Butchery Assistant that supports the daily operations and sales of a butcher shop by assisting customers, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, as well as driving sales in the butchery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales in the butchery
  • Must be Computer literate
  • Weigh, package, label, and price meat items for sale
  • Ensure proper storage of meat according to food safety regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment
  • Help display products in an attractive and organized manner
  • Serve customers, answer questions, and provide basic product recommendations
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the supervisor
  • Follow health, safety, and hygiene standards at all times

Minimum Qualifications/ Traits

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Must be computer literate
  • Sales experience
  • Basic knowledge of meat cuts and handling (training can be provided)
  • Ability to use knives and butchery equipment safely
  • Good physical stamina (standing for long hours, lifting heavy items)
  • Strong attention to hygiene and cleanliness
  • Good customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Previous experience in a butchery or retail environment is an advantage

Working Conditions

Work in a cold environment (refrigerated areas), May include weekends and holidays, Requires use of protective clothing (gloves, aprons, etc.).
