The Gender and Safeguard Officer leads VOSIEDA’s gender equality, inclusion, and safeguarding functions across programs and operations. The role ensures that projects integrate gender-responsive and do-no-harm approaches; safeguarding risks are identified and managed; staff, volunteers, and partners comply with VOSIEDA and donor requirements on PSEA, child protection, and protection from abuse, exploitation, harassment, and discrimination; and complaints and referral mechanisms function safely, confidentially, and effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Development Studies, Human Rights, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in gender mainstreaming, safeguarding, or social inclusion within development or humanitarian contexts.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding frameworks, child protection standards, and gender equality principles.
- Proven experience in policy development, training facilitation, and capacity building.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion.
- Experience working with diverse communities and marginalized groups.
- Familiarity with donor safeguarding requirements (USAID, DFID/FCDO, UN agencies, etc.) is an asset.
