Job Description

The Director of Finance is the Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar for coordinating and supervising all accounting and financial activities in the University. The Director of Finance shall be responsible for:

• The general administration of financial and all accounting matters of the University
• Initiating action and introducing accounting systems and procedures
• Controlling of special advances and imprest
• Overseeing all bills receivable and payable both locally and internationally
• Exercising due and proper care over the work of revenue collectors and guard against any form of embezzlement, fraud and other irregularities and
• The overall activities of the various sections in the Directorate and custodian of all accounting documents.

Requirements

• Possess a postgraduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Audit
• Be a member in good standing of any recognised professional accounting body e.g. ICA, ACCA, CIMA, etc
• Have at least 10 years post-qualification working experience as a professional accountant
• Have served as Deputy Director of Finance in a university
• Have considerable knowledge of a university financial administration.
