The Assistant Painter will be responsible for supporting painting projects and maintenance tasks, including:
- Spreading drop cloths and covering furniture and fixtures to protect them during painting.
- Preparing work areas, including erecting scaffolding or setting up ladders for elevated work.
- Preparing walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, and removing old paint.
- Filling cracks and holes in surfaces with appropriate materials.
- Mixing paint and other materials to achieve the desired colour and texture, following instructions.
- Painting surfaces according to instructions using various tools (brushes, rollers, spray guns).
- Applying varnish and other finishing coats as required.
- Adhering to all health and safety precautions to ensure a safe working environment.
- Contributing to the overall success of the Services and Estates Department by performing other essential duties as assigned.
