Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Networking Consultant to join our professional services team on a permanent basis. This is a client-facing, strategic role focused purely on high-level networking consultancy. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance, network design strategies, and advisory services to enterprise clients across multiple industries. This is not a hands-on implementation or “build” role. You will not be responsible for physical deployments, configurations, or break-fix activities. Instead, you will act as a trusted advisor, translating complex business requirements into optimal network architectures, recommending best-practice solutions, and ensuring clients achieve maximum value from their networking investments.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive network assessments, audits, and gap analyses for clients.
• Design and present high-level network architectures, migration strategies, and optimisation roadmaps (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, data centre, cloud connectivity, and security).
• Advise clients on Cisco-centric networking technologies, future-proofing strategies, and alignment with business objectives.
• Develop technical proposals, scoping documents, and business cases for networking projects.
• Provide strategic consultancy during pre-sales and post-sales phases, including workshops, proof-of-concept planning, and executive-level presentations.
• Collaborate with internal delivery teams to ensure proposed designs are feasible and meet client requirements (without performing the actual build work yourself).
• Stay current with emerging networking trends, Cisco roadmaps, and industry best practices to deliver thought-leadership to clients.
• Mentor junior consultants and contribute to the continuous improvement of our consultancy methodology.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Certification: Must hold a current and valid Cisco certification at Professional level or higher (CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, CCNP Data Center, or CCIE in any track).
• CCIE is strongly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in networking, with at least 4 years spent in a pure consultancy or advisory capacity (design, strategy, and client-facing architecture roles).
• Location: Must already live in Durban (no relocation support will be offered).
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex networking consultancy engagements to mid-to-large enterprise clients.
• Deep technical knowledge of Cisco technologies including routing/switching, SD-WAN, wireless, network automation, and security integration.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle (required for client visits in the Durban and greater KwaZulu-Natal region).
