Job Description

The Furniture and Interior Designer Intern will support the design team in developing creative, functional, and visually appealing furniture and interior design concepts. The intern will assist in space planning, furniture selection, concept development, mood board preparation, client presentation materials, and site coordination while gaining practical exposure to interior design processes and furniture design execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing furniture and interior design concepts in line with client requirements, project goals, and brand identity.
• Support in preparing mood boards, design presentations, color schemes, and material palettes.
• Assist with space planning and furniture layout proposals for residential, commercial, or hospitality projects.
• Help in selecting furniture, fabrics, finishes, lighting, accessories, and décor elements suitable for each project.
• Prepare basic drawings, sketches, 2D layouts, and 3D visual concepts using relevant design software.
• Conduct research on current interior design trends, furniture styles, materials, and finishes.
• Assist in measuring project sites and documenting dimensions accurately for design development.
• Support in preparing bills of quantities, furniture specifications, and material schedules where required.
• Work with suppliers, artisans, and contractors under supervision to ensure design requirements are understood.
• Assist in monitoring project progress and ensuring design implementation aligns with approved concepts.
• Participate in site visits, installations, and project inspections as assigned.
• Organize and maintain design files, samples, catalogues, and project documentation.
• Support in photographing completed work for portfolio, social media, and company records where required.
• Perform any other design-related duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Furniture Design, Architecture, Fine Arts, or any related field.
• Recent graduate or student seeking internship placement in interior and furniture design.
• Basic understanding of interior design principles, furniture design, color coordination, and space planning.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or related tools will be an added advantage.
• Good creativity and ability to translate ideas into practical design solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under supervision and meet deadlines.
• Passion for furniture design, interior aesthetics, and functional spaces.
