KIPPRA is hiring Young Professionals to contribute to impactful policy research. As a Young Professional, you will participate in a year-long program, conduct publishable research, and support various divisions such as Macroeconomics, Governance, and Trade.

Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is an autonomous Kenyan public think tank established in 1997 to provide high-quality research, policy advice, and capacity building to the government and stakeholders. It assists in developing evidence-based public policy to promote economic growth.

In line with The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA)’s mandate of developing human and institutional capacities required for the formulation of medium and long-term strategic perspectives for national development, KIPPRA runs an annual Young Professionals (YP) Training Programme in the areas of Public Policy Process, Research Methods (Concepts, Data and techniques), Governance structures in a Devolved system of Government, Research Ethics and Macroeconomic Modeling.

By the end of the training the participants are expected to produce publishable research outputs.

The objective of the YP Programme is to develop young professionals in public policy research and offer them an opportunity to gain on-the-job experience, expand their knowledge and build professional networks.

Young Professionals are placed for one year in the following Research Divisions with a requirement to focus their research in one of the areas covered by the respective Divisions including the following:

  • Macroeconomics Division
  • Modelling Division
  • Statistics Division
  • Predictive Analytics Division
  • Social Sector Division
  • Nutrition and Dietetics Sector Division
  • Governance Division
  • Gender and Special Group Division
  • Infrastructure and Economic Services Division
  • Trade and Foreign Policy Division
  • Private Sector Development Division
  • Productive Sector Division

Qualifications

For admission into the programme, the following are the minimum qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree;
  • Be below 35 years of age;

Competencies

  • Have strong analytical problem-solving capabilities and be results-oriented;
  • Be computer literate including knowledge in at least a statistical package (R, STATA, SPSS, E-VIEWS, etc.);
  • Should have good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Be fluent in English;
  • Be persons legally living in the country at the time of participating in the programme

Additional Requirements

In addition, Successful candidates will be required to obtain clearance from the following institutions:

  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
  • Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
  • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
