Job Description

The School of Oral Health Sciences works closely with the Wits Oral Health Centre (WOHC), situated within the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH) in the implementation of the clinical training agenda. The school also utilizes the Zola Wits Dental Clinic, jointly operated by both organizations, as an extended clinical training platform for students. This extended training platform and other such platforms also enable improved access to oral health services by the surrounding communities. Being one of few oral health-training institutes in South Africa, the school prides itself in graduating world-class oral health professionals yearly. The school invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for appointment to the positions of Dental Assistant. The posts are primarily for the Zola Wits Dental Clinic site, but the incumbents in these posts may at times be required to assist at any of the Extended training platforms including the central site (WOHC) and other outreach sites. The successful candidates will be required to carry out dental assisting duties, ensure there is enough supply of dental consumables for all clinical sessions including ordering materials from the satellite stores, and manage their own performance.
