Job Description

Nkhuni Farm is a growing commercial poultry operation focused on egg production for the Zambian market. We are seeking a highly experienced and disciplined Poultry Manager (Layers) to take full responsibility for managing and optimizing our layer operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily layer operations including feeding, production, and bird welfare
  • Drive egg production efficiency, quality, and consistency
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (mortality, feed intake, laying rate)
  • Enforce strict biosecurity and vaccination programs
  • Supervise and manage farm staff with discipline and accountability
  • Control feed usage, reduce wastage, and manage stock levels
  • Maintain accurate production records and reporting systems
  • Ensure all farm systems, procedures, and standards are consistently followed

Requirements

  • Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in commercial layer farm management
  • Proven experience managing large-scale layer operations (high bird capacity)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Deep understanding of layer performance, nutrition, and health management
  • Experience working in structured, performance-driven environments
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong reporting, planning, and organizational skills
  • Must be willing and able to reside on-site at a remote, off-grid farm location
  • Comfortable staying on the farm for extended periods with limited access to urban amenities
  • Able to work in a hands-on, demanding environment with long hours when required
