Agricultural Scientist - Mashonaland East

Position Overview

Crystal Clear Ltd., a reputable recruiting agency in Zimbabwe, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Agricultural Scientist on behalf of one of its respected clients within the agricultural sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting agricultural research, developing and implementing innovative farming solutions, improving crop and livestock productivity, and providing technical support to enhance sustainable agricultural practices in Zimbabwe.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Development

• Conduct scientific research on crops, soils, livestock, and agricultural systems to improve productivity and sustainability.
• Design and implement field trials, experiments, and data collection activities.
• Analyze research findings and prepare technical reports and recommendations.

Crop & Soil Management

• Develop and recommend best practices for soil fertility, crop rotation, pest control, and irrigation management.
• Monitor soil health, crop performance, and environmental factors affecting agricultural outputs.
• Support introduction of climate‑smart and conservation agriculture techniques.

Technical Advisory & Extension Support

• Provide technical guidance to farmers, agribusinesses, and project stakeholders.
• Conduct training sessions, demonstrations, and workshops on improved agricultural practices.
• Collaborate with extension officers and field teams to disseminate research outcomes.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Collect, analyze, and interpret agricultural data to inform decision‑making.
• Prepare research publications, operational reports, and presentations for management and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate documentation of trials, methodologies, and outcomes.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Compliance

• Work closely with government bodies, research institutions, NGOs, and private sector partners.
• Ensure compliance with national agricultural regulations, research ethics, and environmental standards.
• Contribute to grant proposals, donor reporting, and project evaluations where applicable.

Qualifications & Experience

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Soil Science, Animal Science, Crop Science, or a related field (mandatory).
• A Master’s degree in Agriculture or Agricultural Sciences is an added advantage.

Professional Experience

• At least 3–5 years’ relevant experience in agricultural research, extension services, or agribusiness operations.
• Practical experience working with Zimbabwean farming systems and agro‑ecological regions.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of crop production, soil management, data analysis, and sustainable farming practices.
• Proficiency in research methodologies, field trials, and agricultural data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with climate‑smart agriculture and modern farming technologies is an advantage.
